6/8/2023 0 Comments Mechajammer gogLike I said they wanted to make the game this way. "Give us our turn based" haīut none of the turn based design choices are about pandering. If Joe and Hannah made Mechajammer a full real time ARPG people would be making the same claims of pandering to a demographic. It is making the game the way The developers, Joe and Hannah, wanted. Making Mechajammer turn based is not pandering. The reality is there are plenty of all 3 for each type of player. A few that even have cyberpunk dystopian themes. Every time I turn around I see another ARPG with real time combat or a CRPG with real time with pause. "Pander to the masses" regarding turn based CRPGs! That is a new one. But, it also allows for the thoughtful pause period to plan out your attacks or other strategies. The combat it self feels pretty fast paced if you just move constantly. I feel like this system they are implementing is a good middle ground. Personally, I prefer turn based combat for Isometric RPGs but get that not all do. The simulated, timed actions (while turn based) give it more real time combat feel. These actions can happen simultaneously, and create a more dynamic battlefield." The premise is utilizing turn-based combat with simulated, timed actions. ![]() We've had some questions on the basics, and while we'll continue to go over specific elements throughout the campaign this should act as a good starter to give you an idea of where we're headed with it. "We wanted to give a brief demonstration of combat mechanics, as this is a unique system to the CRPG world. Think an isometric Escape from New York, or Deus Ex." "We’re so excited to be back on Kickstarter with our new game, Copper Dreams! It's an isometric, party-based, turn-based, pen-and-paper-inspired game in a dystopian cyberpunk setting. During the several demos and other early iterations I have played the combat has not changed. The developers talked about this during the games development and it was announced as one at the kickstarter. The pauses give you time to study your opponents, choose appropriate actions, heal, change weapons, etc. ![]() it may appear like a real time game but in actuality all actions are based on turn based calculations. Just not one where you give commands to initiate turns.
